Understanding ULRA

I was contracted to create an interactive story based eLearning course for Tomo that takes the learner through the process of complete the URLA, or Form 1003.   When designing the course style I used Mayer’s Principals of Multimedia, specifically making sure the content was presented through images and narration.  The tone of the voice over treatment was conversational.  The structure of the course took the learner through the application process in sequential order.  Additionally, creating the story of a buyer and a mortgage originator at Tomo gave the course a more personal feel.

Process

I was guided by the Design and Development principles of the ADDIE model and utilized Mayer’s 12 Principles of Multimedia Design.  Since the structure of the course will be sequential based on the URLA,  I wanted to create a story based course that takes the character of the Loan Originator and the Borrower, along with the learner, through the process of completing the application.  Once the structure was decided, I wrote the script for narration.  After client feedback and revisions, I hired a voice actor to record the male voice over, while I recorded the female voice over using a Blue Yeti microphone.  After recording I edited the audio using Adobe Audition.  The course went through approximately two iterations before final approval was given.

Final Product

“It was an absolute pleasure to work with Stephanie. She was extremely professional throughout our engagement. I was blown away by her ability to take our source material and really make our vision come to life in the form of engaging e-learning content. She used her expertise to make recommendations on design and course elements, which was much appreciated. She was always quick to respond and incorporated feedback in a timely manner. Overall, I highly recommend working with Stephanie for any freelance design needs!”
