Overview
I was subcontracted to create technical job aids for Washington Metro Area Transit Authority’s move-in to their new headquarters. The purpose of the job aids were to assist staff members with setting up their new workstation and included phone, computer and printer set-up. These grab-and-go job aids, available on every floor of the building, allowed staff to try to problem solve, freeing up IT to deal with more urgent technical issues.
Process
After sorting though the content needed to create the job aids, I used the CRAP Design Principals to guide the look and flow of the job aids. My process included modifying the technical language of the content so it is more accessible, selecting background visuals that tie into WMATA, and using colors and fonts from WMATA’s Style Guide. Each job aid went through two or three iterations before the client was satisfied with the final product.
